There has long been a recognised clinical need for an alternative to amalgam that has an easier technique. SureFil from DENTSPLY is a posterior restorative, offering outstanding physical properties and a simplified technique.

SureFil handles and wears like an amalgam but unlike amalgam, SureFil recreates natural tooth colour, is mercury free and contains fluoride. The key difference of SureFil can be found in the unique Interlocking Particle Technology (IPT).

SureFil is a precisely engineered mixture of different sized particles of a patented fluoride-infused glass. When packed, the larger particles mechanically interlock with the smaller particles and it is this interlocking action that gives SureFil a feel and resistance similar to amalgam during condensation. It also eliminates the slumping and rebounding that is found in most composites when trying to establish contacts.

Due to its exceptional depth of cure and low shrinkage, SureFil can be placed in bulk (up to 5mm increments) and then light cured for 40 seconds. Immediate polishing finishes the SureFil restoration. SureFil is available in three shades for good patient acceptance.
