DENTSPLY Cross Infection Control Team

DENTSPLY's Cross Infection Control team work together to help you stamp out cross infection in your surgery, protecting you, your team and your patients and helping you to fulfil your duty of care.

Using guidelines from the Department of Health (DOH) (Health Technical Memorandum 01-05: Decontamination in primary care dental practices), some key messages and suggested solutions to help you. After all, it is all of our responsibilities to do the best for your practice and your patients.

Miss Sani-Tip
"She's clearly the better choice, be seen with her!"

Sani-tips are the UK's number 1 favourite disposable 3-in-1 syringe tip.

Miss Sani-Tip is transparently clear in her mission to ensure that each patient is protected from nasty bugs. Being plastic is a good trait, she prides herself on being much more hygienic that metal 3-in-1 syringe tips.

She is also bendy (140 degrees!) - useful for different positions. Maybe that's why she's UK number 1 choice for clinicians who are already using plastic tips (Q1, 2010 SDM data)

Dental equipment requiring protection against backflow should have anti-retraction values incorporated on all hand pieces or water lines. Responsible persons should ensure these are fitted where required. 'Examples of dental equipment requiring backflow protection are 3-in-1 syringes'. (DOH HTM 01-05 Page 53, 6.87)

Best for your clinical results....

The DENTSPLY Restorative team love her too - when fitted to her appropriate adaptor (FREE from DENTSPLY) she won't let you compromise the success of restorative procedures as she guarantees dry air every time, as she has a special separate air and water channel.

Best for your practice....

As washer disinfector use is now best practice, it can add an extra 30 minutes onto the re-processing protocol. Using disposable items such as Miss Sani-Tip, you will save time and hence money!

'To demonstrate best practice further improvements are required including a cleaning process that should be carried out using a validated automated washer-disinfector'. This means that the time for re-processing protocol has increased from around 15 minutes to 45 minutes. Using disposable equipment will therefore save you time and money!

Miss Sani-Tip and Mr Disposa-Shield come as a pair: Sani-Tips come with Sani-Shields which ensure that the whole 3-in-1 syringe is kept free from contamination.

Mr Disposa-Shield
"He's got you covered!"

Disposa-Shields come in 5 different sizes and are an ideal barrier between each patient treatment and your surgery equipment.

Mr Disposa-Shield cares for your whole practice as well as your patients (and of course Miss Sani-Tip!). He's got it covered; just tell him where to stick it. Available in 5 different types to fit over all surfaces, he will ensure that your practice is given the respect and protection it deserves.

Miss UniGrip
"She's Universally Great!"

UniGrip is a universal, disposable digital sensor holder that does an entire mouth series with one bite piece.

Miss UniGrip is universally great - her disposable bitepiece can be slid into different positions to do bitewing, posterior and anterior x-rays, whilst accomodating any digital sensor holder or film. She's colour-coded with the different colour channels for ease of use. She's a one off! Watch her in action at www.unigrip.com

"Intra-oral radiology film and devices used in digital radiology imaging are potential sources of cross-infection" (GDC Guidelines)

Mr Pre-Sterile
He's ready to go when you are!

Mr Pre-sterile file brings you covenience - he's trustworthy and ready to go when you are, saving you time, hassle and money compared to files that you need to sterilise before use. You can rely on him for great results, just make sure that he's not used more than once, even on the same patient. He's available in several brands including the UK's number 1 NiTi rotary file (Q4 08 SDM data), ProTaper Universal.

"Dentists should ensure that endodontic reamers and files are treated as single use in order to reduce the risk of prion transmission in dentistry." (DOH) "Equipment that is described as 'single' use should be used whenever possible and discarded after use, never re-used. Single use means that a device can be used on a patient during one treatment session and then discarded" (GDC Advice Sheet A12).

Isolation of the tooth with Ash Rubber Dam Man
"He's a must!"

The most important reason for using Rubber Dam is the vast amount of scientific evidence which states that micro-organisms are the main cause of treatment failures. Rubber Dam will eliminate salivary contamination.

Ash Rubber Dam man isolates others from himself but for safety and success, he is a must! Patients will love him! He's high quality, offering maximum protection for your patient when placed correctly. The Ash clamps come with a training DVD to help you use them.
